Renewable Energy

Almost all of our energy comes from fossil fuels and nuclear power. Many are concerned about the short and long term effects of nuclear fuels. Plutonium waste has a 500,000 year half life and the difficulty of safely storing these wastes is a major long term concern.

The concerns about fossil fuels used to be limited to acid rain, air pollution, large scale mining, etc... Today, the greenhouse warming of the planet is another concern to add to the list. Carbon Dioxide is one of the main components of fossil fuels and a major contributor to the greenhouse gasses. The level of Carbon Dioxide within the atmosphere has increased by 60% since the industrial revolution. The consequence, climatic changes are being predicted.
